Effective Communication Strategies is a program presented by the Alzheimer’s Association® that explores how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s disease. Participants will learn the communication changes that take place throughout the course of the disease. Strategies will be shared to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia and learn ways to respond that are helpful to the person. Helpful strategies to connect and communicate at each stage of the disease will also be presented.

Dr. Christopher Ecklund, an Orthopedic Surgeon with Mid-America Orthopedics Kansas City will present on fall prevention, common types of fractures that can occur in the hip area, as well as treatments for each. He will also discuss knee osteoarthritis and share the current best surgical and nonsurgical treatments.
