We are thrilled to welcome our new pastry chef, Soraya Rahman, to Cedar Lake Village! Soraya grew up in Strasbourg, France. Following high school graduation she attended a University in Strasbourg studying liberal arts. Upon graduation in 1994, she began work for a non-profit organization from 1994 – 2007 as a back-up accountant.
In 2007, she felt led to pursue a career in the Art of French Pastry and attended the L’Ecole Francise de Boulangerie d’ Aurillac in France and obtained her diploma. Following her training in Aurillac, she had additional training under master chefs in Strasbourg, her hometown. Soraya worked as a pastry chef at several four and five star rated bakeries, restaurants and resorts in Europe prior to moving to the United States.
After moving to the United States, she used her skills and professional training that she eared in Europe and combined it with the American way in creating a variety of desserts, both sweet and savory, traditional and modern. Prior to joining the Cedar Lake Village team, Soraya has worked as a pastry chef at Aixois restaurant, Avenue Bistro, Heirloom Bakery, Pig and Finch Gastro Pub, IBIS Bakery and Country Club, and the Kiewit Cafe.
Soraya is passionate about her work as a pastry chef and we are so grateful to have her as a part of our team!
