Mother’s Day at Cedar Lake Village is typically celebrated in the days leading up to the holiday with a fun program or party for residents, followed by numerous families gathering together within the walls of the community to celebrate their precious mothers. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, staff at Cedar Lake Village had to be creative and think of new ways for residents to feel valued and appreciated on this special holiday. The team at Cedar Lake Village came up with the idea of creating a Mother’s Day Parade, encouraging families to come to the campus with decorated vehicles and signs for all their loved ones to see! A line of vehicles wrapped around the entire building with the front vehicle catching up to the back!
Cheyenne Dains, Wellness Director, also coordinated a letter drop box, where families could drop off letters of appreciation to their mothers to be delivered to their apartments before Mother’s Day. In this time of social distancing and quarantine, it is amazing to see the ingenious ways families are creating to celebrate their family bonds and love towards one another.
